01Save the set of sheets
In the PDF or DWG export dialog, choose Selected views/sheets, tick the sheets, and save the selection with a name such as Issue 03 – Building permit. The next export, in any format, picks the whole set with one click. Sorting the list by sheet number makes the set easy to check.
02PDF: the built-in export (Revit 2022 and later)
- File → Export → PDF. No PDF printer is needed.
- Combine multiple views/sheets into a single file, or one file per sheet.
- Naming rule: build the file name from Sheet Number, Sheet Name, the current revision or the project number.
- Paper format: Use sheet size, so an A0 and an A3 sheet each come out at their own size.
- Raster quality and colours: Vector processing, and Color or Black lines, decided once in the setup.
Save the setup. The PDF export settings can be saved by name. Make one for presentation and one for working drawings, and nobody exports with the wrong colours again.
03DWG: export setups and xrefs
- File → Export → CAD Formats → DWG, and pick the saved sheet set.
- Export setup: layers, line weights, fonts and units. Modify it once and save it with the template.
- Export views on sheets and links as external references: unticked, each sheet becomes one DWG with everything in it. Ticked, you get a sheet file plus a file per view, which most consultants do not want.
- Name the files from the sheet number and name, without the project prefix Revit adds.
04Where the built-in tools stop
- One format per run: PDF and DWG are two exports, and the model copy is a third.
- Folders by hand: one folder per format, per issue and per date.
- No copy of the .rvt that matches the set you sent.
For a weekly issue on a large project this is half an hour of clicking, and the step where a sheet goes missing. Offices solve it with Dynamo, with a batch-print add-in, or with a checklist on the wall.
How DATUM does it
DATUM Export in DWG, PDF, RVT exports sheets, views or legends to all three formats in one run, with the DWG export setup you choose, into one folder or a folder per format, named from the project name and the date.
- PDF, DWG and RVT in one run, all three on by default.
- Sheets, views or legends; search and select across the whole list.
- Your own DWG export setup, chosen per run.
- A subfolder named from {project_name} and {date}.

Questions
How do I export multiple Revit sheets to PDF at once?
In Revit 2022 or later use File → Export → PDF, choose Selected views/sheets, tick the sheets or pick a saved set, and export. Choose one combined file or one file per sheet, and set a naming rule.
Why does my Revit DWG export create several files per sheet?
Export views on sheets and links as external references is ticked. Untick it in the DWG export dialog to get one DWG per sheet.
Can Revit export PDF and DWG at the same time?
Not with the built-in tools: PDF and DWG are separate exports. A saved sheet set makes the second one quick, or an add-in such as DATUM Export does both, and a copy of the model, in one run.
